I became interested in Dante’s Divine Comedy when I saw an exhibition of William Blakes illustrations in the mid nineties. I have read and re-read Dante’s book over the years and recognise; as Dante did that we are surrounded by examples of peoples whos actions will result in them destined for the circles of hell. That is, if you believe in the religous construct of hell. Perhaps Hell truly is a place on earth.
We tend to think that being in Limbo is a bad thing, although seen alongside the circles beyond, is it better that we remain inactive?
Lust is the first circle of hell. I take a broader view of lust. We are surrounded by people lusting over a new car, a pair of shoes, a holiday or a better life.
