Chaac was among the most important Mayan and Aztec gods. Along with being god of rain, he was also associated with the four points of the compass, lightning, thunder, maize (Corn) and agriculture. Mayans worshipped him to ensure the success of their harvests. Chaac is both one and manifold. Four Chaacs are based in the cardinal directions and wear the directional colours Red, white, blue and yellow. There was a further Chaac associated with the ‘direction’ here or centre.
